Friends --
Especially those of you who weren't at church this evening:
Last Friday Izzy's daughter Patti flew her from Albany airport to Bellingham for medical consultations. The doctor determined that she has become addicted to one of the medications she has been prescribed -- I got the definitive word this evening that the "culprit" drug is clonazepam -- an anti-anxiety medication.
Izzy and Patti will be flying back to Oregon tomorrow -- Patti said it would be Lake Oswego airport -- but a search of road map and of Google shows no evidence of an airport in Lake Oswego -- so it will probably be Newberg airport where I will meet them (final word in the morning) and Izzy will be admitting herself to the Springbrook drug treatment center in Newberg for a 28-day in-patient rehabilitation program.

Izzy had just been moved out of the detox room when I got there this afternoon. She was in good spirits, with lots of laughter -- said the detox was not as severe as the last time around, 29 years ago. She had 3 other visitors , besides myself.

The prescription medicine stuff sounded like it was of great concern. People often take more than one medication prescribed by their doctor. To me, these mixes of medicines seem like they themselves are dangerous.
It was a relief to read the previous post.
I wrote Izzy a letter but it will be tomorrow before I get a stamp and mail it.
